Introducing the "Elster" offset guitar model

At On Guitars, we've always believed in the power of listening to our customers' feedback and evolving our instruments to meet their needs. Our latest creation, the "Elster" electric guitar, is a testament to this commitment. In this article, we will take you through the journey of designing, testing, and the exciting future of the "Elster" model. From its distinctive design to live stage testing and what lies ahead, the "Elster" is set to make its mark in the world of electric guitars.

The Design of the "Elster" Electric Guitar

The "Elster" electric guitar is a guitar that we've carefully crafted by paying close attention to our customers' voices. While our existing guitar models have been loved for their slightly smaller body sizes, we heard the desires of players who yearned for something with a bigger, more substantial feel. With this in mind, we embarked on the journey of designing the "Elster".

One of our primary goals was to create a versatile platform that could accommodate various configurations for pickups, tremolos, and experimental electronic wirings. Additionally, we wanted to ensure that the "Elster" stood out distinctly from our previous models, "Fink" and "Star", which shared a somewhat similar look. The result is a guitar that not only boasts a remarkable body shape but also introduces a unique formal language for the headstock, giving it a look and feel that's entirely its own while still embracing the On Guitars design DNA.

Testing the "Elster" Electric Guitar Model Live on Stage

To further enhance the "Elster" electric guitar and stay true to our commitment to customer feedback, we took the bold step of putting the first prototype into the hands of the exceptional musician and guitar player, Tim Schwerdter. Tim played the "Elster" during a total of 25 live shows as part of the Cro 11:11 Open Air Tour, gracing stages across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The "Elster" prototype features an alder body and a roasted maple neck with a Blackwood Tek fretboard. However, what truly sets it apart is the remarkable sound it produces, thanks to the incredible Mockingbird pickups handmade by Nick Silver Pickups in Greece. The "Elster" delivers a punchy, percussive sound that allows it to effortlessly cut through the complexity of a band's sound mix, making it a standout on the stage.

What's Next for the "Elster" Electric Guitar?

The initial reception of the "Elster" electric guitar at the Montreux International Guitar Show and the Guitar Summit 2023 was overwhelmingly positive, providing us with valuable feedback and insights on how to further improve its design. We've listened carefully to these insights, and we're excited to share our plans for the future.

By the end of 2023, we will unveil the first two custom-built "Elster" guitars for clients, both equipped with a hardtail bridge. However, this is just the beginning of the journey for the "Elster" model. We have plans to expand its concept, introducing an offset vibrato and a wide range of pickup combinations to cater to a diverse range of musical styles and preferences.
